Fire at Union Corner
The Ca’ d’Oro Building, Glasgow (Left of the fire engine)
A landmark Venetian‑style commercial building with a dramatic fire history.
A devastating fire gutted the building in 1987. The interior was completely destroyed. During reconstruction, the interior was replaced with a central atrium surrounded by shops.
Inspired by the Ca’ d’Oro palace in Venice.
Venetian Renaissance style with cast‑iron arcades, banded pillars, and ornate friezes.
Located at the corner of Union Street and Gordon Street, directly opposite Glasgow Central Station.
This means it sits one block north of Union Corner, the building that went on fire on 8th March, 2026.
