The last few months were difficult: for a long time, his failing heart could still be energized with (lots of) medicine, but when he had developed an edema in his belly, his condition deteriorated fast. It could be checked for some time by draining it; eventually, however, it spread to his lungs, and nothing could be done anymore. We had to let him go.
My wife still can’t watch pictures of him, and actually I find it hard myself to do so. We got him when he was 2 1/2, and had him for twelve years. A perfect companion, and –as Sherry’s photos show– a beautiful specimen of his breed.
