Imaginary Malevich's red squares: Folds
"Everywhere there is craft and technique; everywhere there is artistry and form. Art itself, technique, is ponderous and clumsy, and because of its awkwardness it obstructs that inner element..." -Kazimir Malevich

Thanks to Isabel for the tip to use 'cloudy' white balance mode. Pictures of red (dark) also seem to require some heavy darkening, even when the image already has been underexposed. Red as a dark color fools the light meter to choose wrong white balance and over expose the image.

Very well done Sami.
I enjoyed your other images too. :)
Sami Serola (inactiv… club has replied to Valfal clubThen what comes to wrong white balance it happens with all colors. You have probably experienced this when trying to shoot some blue flowers. That is also a very difficult color to get it right!
Very Clever!
Best Wishes, and a good weekend
Peter
Sami Serola (inactiv… club has replied to aNNa schramm clubRed is the best ;-)
I find that when I shoot something with lots of reds, AWB makes it much too cold. With my Canon "cloudy" has 6500 Kelvin (more yellows to the red) whereas AWB lands at 2850 Kelvin (way too much blue to the red)!
Sami Serola (inactiv… club has replied to Gudrun clubAnd yes, I have done similar discovery with most of the cameras I have used. Shooting plain red surface, AWB makes them look blueish.
Gudrun club has replied to Sami Serola (inactiv… clubAnd of course it also depends on how your monitor is calibrated- my notebook shows cooler colours than my tablet but I still haven't got around to doing anything about it;-)
Sami Serola (inactiv… club has replied to Gudrun clubSo, you can then choose one of the white balance presets also afterwards, if the software allows it.
