Wild Hog

Wild Hog
Descendant of Russian Boars, which were introduced into the area, and domestic pigs. These intrusive hogs roam Aransas National Wildlife refuge, rooting through the dirt, tearing up the ground.

Actually, there is hunting in parts of the refuge (generally in the parts that the Whooping Cranes don't inhabit) and the FWS encourages the ... removal ... of these intrusive hogs. However, they're apparently good at reproducing, and the impact where they have rooted up the ground is readily evident all over the refuge..
