The Refectory Pulpit.
Roger de Montgomery, who built the Castle, also provided Shrewsbury with an abbey, found on the far side of the river, close to the English Bridge. This is the open air Reader's Pulpit, which belonged to the vanished refectory opposite the Abbey.

McDonald's in Shrewsbury!!
Shrewsbury is home to the oldest building in the World to house a McDonald's restaurant. Part of the building on Pride Hill date back to the 13th century. You would never know it from the street level, but go down stairs and it's a different world. The walls are part of the original town walls. In Shrewsbury, even your burger is served with a large portion of heritage!
