Salisbury Cathedral

Construction started in 1220 and has the tallest spire in Britain at 123m (403ft) ~ It houses the Magna Carta (Latin for "Great Charter") one of the most celebrated documents in English history. In 2009 UNESCO entered Magna Carta into the Memory of the World Register – the list of the world’s most important documents. It is the best preserved of only four surviving 1215 copies and is displayed in the spectacular Chapter House within an interactive exhibition.

The title shot is brilliant. A lovely blue sky with fluffy clouds and perfect framing of the cathedral between the trees. Awesome detail as always Rosa..........and as far as I can see, only one person in the shot, which is pretty much perfect!

Both PiPs are lovely.........in the first we see a different perspective and in the second some super close up detail. Excellent!

Thank you very much Keith. Not many visitors yet, as the cathedral was still closed. I think it opened this week though. You can go to the cafe inside without paying (there is a charge to look around the Cathedral) and as I said to Maurice, they have heavenly cakes ;-)

There are many beautiful cathedrals in the UK as I'm sure you know Rosa, but Salisbury has the advantage not being closely surrounded by other buildings as is the case with York Minster for example. You have made the most of the open space around the building, creating a great record of the beautiful architecture and the stunning spire. Thanks for the historic notes.
