Common blue female.

Common blue female.
Can anyone tell me the name of this very small butterfly, no more that a 3cm wing span? I have come up with 2 possibilities - Brown Argus or Silver Studded Blue, but not sure!!

Having looked at lots of pictures and sizes of particular butterflies, I now think this is a Common Blue female - Polyommatus icarus. So many look alike!!

Andy Rodker, Diane Putnam, , Bill Robinson / kinderbill and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

Rosalyn* ... He is hard to recognize - to determine the butterfly the photo is not perfect...
But he belongs to the (dt) *Bläulinge* (lat.) Lycaenidae.
They come worldwide with about 5200 species in 416 genera !!!
Many males of the European species have blue-colored wing tops, hence the name.
but also there are many in brown colored wings tops.

with warm greetings aNNa*

P.S. look here www.fotocommunity.de/natur/blaeulinge/933

To distinguish them
Succeeds only a specialist :-))))
