"Day," by Paul Manship for his work, "The Moods of Time," produced for the 1939 New York World's Fair.

Taken by my mother on her visit to the fair. Submitted to the Vintage Photos Theme Park for the theme, Statues and Monuments. The "Moods of Time" was a collection of four sculptures, titled Morning, Day, Evening, and Night, which, according to the sculptor, “particularize man’s earthly concept of time in relationship to the movement of the sun." Interestingly, they were cast in plaster and were later destroyed.

Manship did create a miniature set of the work in bronze and produced a limited set twelve. The last complete set was sold in 2021 for $80,000. Presale estimate by the auction house had been $15,000-$25,000.

Paul Manship's most well known work, titled "Prometheus," is located above the lower plaza at Rockefeller Center in New York.
