Schools Recognition Day At the Fairgrounds Livestock Exhibition Yard, c. 1930.
Submitted to the Vintage Photos Theme Park for the theme, "BARN, FARMHOUSE, OR ANY VARIETY OF AGRICULTURAL BUILDING.". My wife's grandfather, wearing a suit, is standing beneath the "Alex Green" sign. He was the principal of that elementary school, located in Whites Creek, Tennessee, near Nashville. The sign apparently highlights some of the school's achievements for the year: Enrollment-102, Blue Ribbons-57, Number Corrections-45 (I have no idea what that means), Perfect Attendance-35. I assume the boys in the unusual caps are Alex Green students, but I only see boys, leading me to wonder if this is for the purpose of recognizing a specific school activity, such as Future Farmers of America.
