My sister on a school field trip to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, about 1960

Submitted for the PHOTO WITH DECORATIVE BORDER OR FRAME theme in the Vintage Photos Theme Park. A school-sponsored visit to the Museum of Science and Industry was something most kids in the Chicago area were treated to in third or fourth grade. It was a terrific museum with some truly memorable exhibits.

That's great! I wish my school field trips had included a souvenir photo op like this!

Another interesting exhibit at the museum in the 1940s featured an early respirator or "iron lung."

I don't remember the iron lung exhibit being there on my visits. I may have repressed it because they were still being used for polio victims and I shuddered at photos of them.
