Infrared Stuff
Shots from an infrared-converted d100 (up through the Spain trip) and d80 (from "Blue Lake in Infrared" on). Many of the shots were converted using IrfanView, before I discovered that ViewNX2 does a much cleaner job with the NEF-JPG conversion. A few have subsequently replaced with better conversions -- you should easily be able to tell the difference.

Converted this shot and a couple others in this sequence to B&W not because of a hotspot (this is at 18mm, which the 18-200 can handle fine for IR), but because the clouds turned an angry yellow when I swapped the red and blue channels. Looked like someone had splattered molten aluminum across the sky.

This is where we are reminded that with a 10MP camera, we don't need to compose so tightly in-camera. That's why they put cropping functions in image processing software.

The composition I was trying for with all the other IR shots in this sequence. Pity the patches of light never picked out the tree while I was standing there - I waited.
