And for those of you who check all details on photo pages and see 'Address: Petting Zoo' - that is not wrong. This flower was at our local zoo. The zoo has great plants, a lot of natives and also many flowers.

They caught my eye as I was taking my grandson around the zoo. It's a great zoo with wonderful plants also. My grandson (who is now 3 1/2) is good at knowing to wait when grandma points her camera! *smile*

Thanks. Yes, it was crazy bright. Often I find computer/phone images to be over stating the case when it comes to color (HDR and "all that rot") - but this flower really was that bright!

Thank you so much. And how right you are. It not only resembles them but was indeed delphiniums - which I think are also called Larkspur (common name?). But this one didn't have a really long tall spire - but maybe that's what made it so intense.
