Downtown Portland - World Photography Day - Photo #1

Downtown Portland - World Photography Day - Photo #1
Errands for the day included driving downtown where I saw the gorgeous trees at our library which represents my town very well, a city full of trees and readers and history (my great grandfather was one of the founding members of that library). The photo I took there shows the brightness of the day and the welcoming shade and great patterns the tree makes. This is also perhaps a photo that will end up in my project ‘driving portland’.

Gary Benson (grbenson3 on flickr), Günter Klaus, Deborah Lundbech, David G Johnson and 6 other people have particularly liked this photo

I think it is closed now due to the block being redeveloped.. this is close to ''Petersons'' store on - 'SW Morrison St' and 'SW 10th. Ave'... I got mailing someone who worked there - due to 'chatting' online' about our interests in 'Google Earth' and the 'street view' pictures one can see around the world - // Dj..

The street may be closed, but the library is open. Almost nothing will keep us Portlander's away from our library, especially our downtown one.

And yes, Peterson's is a local convenience store (multiple locations downtown).

Yes, that Peterson's is closed. The parking garage structure that it was in got an "upgrade" (very debatable) and sadly that business was out.

I was briefly in Portland during our drive along the west coast to the north. But I don't remember much; unfortunately.

Most travelers do simpy pass through. I'm always fascinated by the people who think to come and visit. Of course our natural wonders nearby (Columbia Gorge, Multnomah Falls, Haystack Rock, etc) draw many to the area, but not always to the city. But I can show people some delights here!

This is the tragedy of limited vacations: you just can't see everything. :-)

I believe the trees were planted when the building was built (completed in 1913). Sadly a few of the trees have now died and been removed (they circle 3 sides of the building), but the ones here remain.
