I was just writing to another member about this very thing. That feeling is a great thing to have in a photograph. For me, art is the goal, and art has a subject often, but that isn't the 'focus'. My husband writes poetry and is often frustrated that people 'like' his poems that have a subject they like more than the ones that's subject isn't their normal cup of tea. He makes beauty with the words and the sounds, the music of the words - the subject is the catalyst. So one can love a work of art that shows war, for example. That doesn't mean one loves war!!
