Emma Sansom Monument

Emma Sansom Monument
Emma became a local heroine in Gadsden, Alabama, during the Civil War when she showed Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest where he could ford Black Creek after the raiding Union soldiers had destroyed the bridge. This enabled him to capture the raiders who were led by Union Colonel Streight. The monument was erected in 1906 by the Gadsden Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. First and Broad Streets, Gadsden, Alabama (after I cloned out the traffic lights). (IMG_1890)
