I am unsure about the species of this duck. It was with Mallards on our local pond. There is a hint of the Mallard male's iridescent green on its head, but I cannot see a similar dark brown plumage when I look on line.

This has been a regular visitor or maybe resident for several years. There were two one year. They are a non-native invasive species that has reportedly caused major wild-life loss in ponds around the country. They are generally dumped pets, bought when the cartoon Ninja Turtles were all the rage, then they became unwanted, smelly and sometimes aggressive cast-offs.
