Great Western pre-1950

One of my father's railway photographs - there are hundreds more to come when I find time to scan them.

Please note that the caption on this photo has been changed to incorporate the information provided by sps1955, quoting details of slip coach design and operation from Michael Harris' book. I will return to the original print and see what extra detail may be hidden in the part showing the coach..

This is the banner for The Great Western Railway group, that I have started. I hope that those with photos of the locomotives, rolling stock and infrastructure will contribute to this group. The intention is to include only items that were built in the pre-nationalisation era, whether they were operating in that era or later.
