The Sussex breed of cattle were used primarily as draught animals, some well into the 20th century. In addition to their deep red brown coats, their tails with the white switches are identifying features.
Belted Galloways are a rare breed from the south-west of Scotland. This photo was taken from a train on the Guildford to Redhill line. Even at this distance their bold black and white colouring is very distinctive.
