English Bicknor & the Forest of Dean - portraits, scenery & ephemera

Folder: Family photos
Photographs and related items, which have been passed down by the Sutters family. Fanny Ivins, school teacher of English Bicknor, married William Sutters. They are my Great grandparents.
Please note that there are a number of Victorian prints of scenes in the Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire area in the 'Old Prints' album.

A. Guest - from English Bicknor photographs

This lady has not been identified, but her photograph is with those who are from English Bicknor. I am sure that A. Guest is the lady's name not a description of her non-resident status. I have come across one person named Guest in my researches, but not with an initial 'A'. At least that hints at a connection with this community and, possibly, our family.

The identity of this lady is not known. She may not be from English Bicknor, although her photograph is with those of people who were residents of this small village, in the Forest of Dean. The photographic studios shown are some distance from EB. 25.7.2020 I have now done a bit of research which suggests that this could be the sister of my Great-great-grandmother, Eliza Ivins. Sometime I must find out how to add accents to letter as in 'nee' for 'born as'

Three girls from English Bicknor photographs

Although it is tempting to jump to the conclusion that these are the Ivins sisters, Lichfield is about 85 miles from their home in English Bicknor. What would they have been there for? No relatives have so far been identified in that area. Equally why would their photo been in this group of photos if there was no connection? The girl on the right would have been Fanny Ivins and she does have a similar face to her portraits in later life. www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/50130442 in this group for example

A partial view of Edgar Griffiths in a family group photo in 1925 makes me wonder if these are Edith Sutters who married Edgar and Edgar himself. Edith was always a possibility but the man didn't ring any bells until I saw that group photo, with just the left side of his head showing.

There is no indication of who this little girl was, but almost all the photos in the folder could be connected to English Bicknor or its residents. It is interesting to see the services that the photographer offered.
