These former coastguard cottages do draw photographers from all around the world. OK it's not just the cottages, but they are a key component in the Cuckmere scene. There are few if any rivers along the Sussex coast that meet the sea with such limited development around the estuary. We are lucky to have such an beautiful location so close to home. The hill behind becomes Seaford Head, over the horizon and the other side of the headland is Seaford.

Not my 'artwork'! The recent storms have washed up a lot of waste - rope, nets, bottles, pallets and more gloves than these! Fishermen must lose lots.
I thought there were glow-in-the-dark sheep on the hillside, but they are gulls flying through sunshine nearer to the camera!
I don't know where this old steam crane worked, but as it ran on rails I shall include it in railway groups. In a batch of photos from a later visit there are views of it from other angles.

My brother-in-law, as a senior manager in Postal Engineering, was responsible for the Royal Mail's underground railway maintenance for a few years before his retirement.
Very recently it has been announced that part of the system is to be restored as an adjunct to the British Postal Museum, if the final £2 million of £22 million for a new museum can be found.
