Newhaven in East Sussex is our local port. It has a regular ferry service to Dieppe in France - twice a day in winter, three times in summer. There are a couple of freight quays used by vessels trading in scrap metal and aggregates. On the west side there are fishing boat jetties, a lifeboat station and a small marina.

This trawler, of 1993 vintage, appears to have been abandoned at Newhaven. It was berthed in a busier part of the harbour, but now seems to have been condemned to the most derelict of the fishing jetties.
This large piece of kit is used in the erection of wind turbines and was awaiting further work in the Rampion Wind Farm off the Sussex coast near Brighton.

I don't know why 14-31 was at Newhaven. The usual Newhaven Lifeboat RNLB 17-21 was on station at the time. This lifeboat has mainly been stationed at Broughty Ferry in Scotland. Later, in mid-November, it was in Poole Harbour.
I think that this vessel was discharging aggregates, although it could have been loading ash waste from the incinerator behind it. The bucket crane behind it was not working, so I could not see which way the cargo was travelling. The hiatus seems to be for refuelling the ship, as two tankers arrived as I did. One can be seen beside the ship.

The Newhaven lifeboat can be seen on the left, returning to its station within the harbour. It will have been on one of its regular Sunday morning training sessions, for its volunteer crew.
