SDJR 5-plank open goods wagon with bar - no141 model & official photo
Peco Wonderful Wagons were mainly private owner 5-plank open wagons with wooden solebars. They had a cast metal body shell with a printed card skin. The chassis was made mainly from a flexible plastic - like the little Airfix soldiers. The 'W' irons were pressed steel units, with each pair formed as an inverted 'U'. The plastic axleguards, with their brass bearing inserts, ran in the 'W' irons, with the flexible plastic springs actually working. I think the kit wheels were also plastic, but I changed them to steel for better running and to add a bit more weight. I think that the chassis was available in 9ft and 10ft wheelbases and could be bought separately.
