Saint Saviour's Church, Carcross

The church was formed in 1901 by the Bishop Bompas, who had been living at Fortymile, downriver from Dawson, Yukon prior to the Klondike Gold Rush. He decided to head south on missionary work and came to the town of Carcross, which was originally known as Caribou Crossing at the time. According to Mrs. Bompas' reports, the only inhabitants of the town were a couple of Canadian Mounties, the owner of the local hotel, the stationmaster for the White Pass Railroad, and two or three native people.
