Disentis- Benedictine Monastery
The Benedictine monastery in Disentis is situated at one of the highest points in Graubünden's Anterior Rhine valley, at the intersection between the Lukmanier and Oberalp passes. The abbey was founded by a Franconian wandering monk, Sigisbert, with the help of a local Rhaetian monk, Placidus a Spescha, at the beginning of the 8th century.
