Captain White / Emma Holt White House -
One white bench on the porch --
Now an Arts Center -- built in the late 1700's --
Was built for Emma Holt and her spouse, Capt. White --
By her Father, Industrialist, Edwin Holt --
Down the street is another similar style home --
Also built by Edwin Holt --
For Elizabeth Holt and her spouse --
It has been refurbished and is a bank --
Have been told by local historians --
The 3rd home built for another daughter of Edwin Holt --
Was beyond repair --
No longer exists --
Land occupied by something-or-other (a business or gov. building) - really don't know.
At one time the Holt family had a large amount of acreage in this part of the city.
The Holt name is still quite prominent (i.e. David Holt - musician) -

The Lights ...
In a new apartment re-purposed from Oneida Cotton Mill ..
Taken from across the street ..
Haze gives a mysterious look to a regular ceiling fan ..
So many things are going on ..
Inside and out ..
Workers are up on lifts ..
Making touches to the exterior ..
Workers inside have lights on ..
In back, the widows were raised ..
Letting a breeze in from the courtyard ..
.
Welcome Home to all ..
Who will live in a very special place ..

History is Alive ~
2017 - March -- day and night shots of Re-purposed Historic Building ..
If you look in the windows near the Tower, blinds have been installed ..
Around the side, two photos of the old water pump -
Day and night ..
With no lights on in the parking lot, it might as well have been a mountain road ..
Pitch black ..
Only light from the camera ..
Landscaping being done ..
Can just imagine a sunset view from these apartments ..
Almost done ..
Almost ..
She might be old, but being put to new use as apartments.
Oneida Cotton Mills was built in the late 1800s -
After so many textile companies left North Carolina, she sat idle -
This is a small town, but they seem to try to re-hab as much as possible -
The Holt Family was well-known in the textile industry
The Arts Center and a current bank once were homes built by Edwin Holt for his daughters.
An album -- ReHab of Oneida Cotton Mills -- takes you through digital documentation starting in 2013.
The tower has been painted .. watched from down the street as it was done !
Rapunzel can let her hair down, now !

Oneida Mills as it goes through the process ..
Being re-purposed into apartments ..
Last heard, there should be 134 'old but new ' places for souls to call home ..
These100+yr old buildings are getting new life ..
Yes, will do my best to bring weekly updates ..
But, should something totally fantastic happen in-between ..
Y'all will get that, too !
