I did find one once in an 'British ex-pats' shop but it was the worst one I've ever had. Dried out and tasteless. (And I would have guessed 15 years old but the dates were correct). It was very expensive too. I like to cook but I'm not into the sweet stuff - and as a diabetic, I don't even try to make puddings!

I used to make persimmon pudding, when I had access to free persimmons. So, must be the same idea. I didn't set it on fire, though - no alcohol in it, darn!

I have 2 wild Persimmon trees here.. and as you know the fruit needs a frost.. well you can bet that night of THE perfect frost.. the racoons and deer clear the trees !!!

Ron.... most of the ex-pat shops online will sell them. Some of them are yuck... some are fine ! That said... they arent hard to make.. and the recipe I have I would be happy to share if you would like it.

We ate the last of our Christmas pudding this evening. A son-in-law who lived in the USA for 4 years while studying told us today that one thing he missed terribly there was the dried fruit delights such as Christmas pudding and Christmas cake and especially mince pies.

I still make my own Christmas Cake and Puddings and some years the Mince too ! Hard to buy them here in the US as I discivered. Many dont know them at all.

The recipes are ones that have been in my family for over 130 years. I am.. and always will be English !
