Redbud Tree
Redbuds are the Oklahoma State Tree.
They grow wild in the woodlands and this time of year(generally every other year) the woods get a pinky red haze of the flowering trees scattered in them.
Its a brittle wood.. the trees dont have pretty shapes or live long lives. But... whilst they do.. they are beautiful .
This is a wild sown one in the garden probably 15-20 years old.
EXPLORED !

Pam J club has replied to Don Sutherland clubPam J club has replied to RHHI have always wished I had the knowledge and confidence with mushrooms ! SO many of the fungi have better and differeing flavours than the bland things we mostly know. I did once long time ago go on a weekend course and eating fest... I still dream those wonderful flavours !
Have a lovely weekend my friend ;-)
Pam J club has replied to Mike (Bogger3)The seedlings are growing and growing! I won't plant them until May 1 and they are starting to stretch quite tall! It's all so exciting!
Your moonflower seeds aren't popping so I figured they need to be stratified. Looked it up, and yes they do, as well as needing scarification and an overnight soak. I'll be giving my refrigerated seeds some attention tonight! :D
*big hugs*
Happy Easter!!

They will regenerate from a stump ! Every other year..the woodlands bloom pink/red with them.
Pam J club has replied to Helena FerreiraPam J club has replied to Valfal clubIts the State tree of at least 4 States(including Oklahoma)
It grows wild and seeds and grows easily. Its a brittle wood.. they are smaller trees and dont have long lives in comparison to many species.

Slightly different species. They grow wild in the woodlands here where I live and I have several in the 2 acres I have.
I have also seen Judas Trees in the UK. They are beautiful !
