Other than the odd appearance of the 69kV here, there's nothing to suggest that a major substation once sat here: www.ipernity.com/doc/ndlinegeek/18856373

This looks like a "something's missing" shot. Polymer posts holding jumpers for older red porcelain disks, combined with the open switch, make me wonder if there was a substation here not too long ago!

Correct - a 69kV/2400V sub once sat here.

Is it just me, or does it seem that the number of towns running on 2400 V is dwindling fast?

It sure seems so!

The Loveland, CO muni ditched its 2400V delta system at the mouth of the Big Thompson canyon a couple years ago now, and I know MDU has converted least 4 2400V systems in the last decade (to 4160V). Besides Huron, NWPS rebuilt its Ethan distribution system to 4160V.

I have to agree, it seems like I'm seeing fewer 2.4 delta systems as well. However, if you ever make your way out to Ohio, Sandusky has a pretty robust 2.4kv delta system.
