A few days ago, I passed the South Sioux substation well after sunset and I picked up on the fact there'd been a significant change, but what, I couldn't figure out. This is what I saw the next day - Xcel finally got around to taking down the long-abandoned lead-out for the old #3 4160V circuit (rebuilt in the late 1980s, along with the upper circuit on the next pole, which was originally 4160V circuit #2).
The reason the pothead bushings look odd is that the terminals have insulating hoods taped over them.
At least the old crossarm-style switch in the back survives - for the moment.
