Castagnata @ Arizzano 2008 11
Autumn festival in the mountains above Lake Maggiore, Piedmont, Northern Italy.
"La castagnata" is a food and wine festival dedicated to chestnuts and typical local dishes.
The woods around Arizzano - a small pitoresque village in the Italian province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola - are rich in chestnut trees.
The fruits were collected and are now roasted and eaten hot.
There is also a variety of cakes and sweeties prepared with flour made from chestnuts.
