www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBPAZQS3yLk A city called VILLA EPECUÉN Located at 600 kms from Buenos Aires and 7.3 km from the city of Carhué, was founded in 1921 on the shores of the lake of the same name. Towards the decade of '70 it received 25 thousand tourists during the summer season, with 6 thousand declared hotel beds and 250 commercial establishments. The stable population was around 1,200 people. Its highly mineralized waters were famous for their similarity to the properties of the Dead Sea. For this reason, the thermal water has had a curative function and the WHO (World Health Organization) included it in traditional medicine. "Miraculous water", that was it. He gave them a status, work, entity and a name. But not everything was rosy and the good does not last forever, at least, that was what happened with Epecuén. In 1985 a flood caused by a flood of the lake submerged the city completely under water, forcing its total evacuation. Later in the last years the water began to retreat, leaving in sight the ruins of the city, which have become by themselves a tourist attraction. Towards middle of 1993 Villa Epecuén was to 7 meters under the water. During those years works were carried out to prevent the entry of external flows into the lagoon, so the elevation began to fall slowly. Present The water level has receded almost completely.
