Detail of the Virgin Annunciate Stained Glass in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, August 2007
The Virgin Annunciate
Colored, stained and enameled glass
Designed by an artist of the School of Fountainebleu
Paris, 1552

Accession # 07.287.12

A banderole bears the partial inscription "Ave Ma...gratia plena...ns." This is part of a large Annunciation window from a series of windows with scenes from the Life of the Virgin placed in the north aisle windows of the church of Saint Foy, at Conches, Normandy. It was given to the church in 1552 by Jean le Teillier, seigneir d'Evreux and conseiller du roi to Henry II.
