Peewits are precocial birds, the fledglings leave the nest after a few days. They usually breed in small, loose colonies, so you have a few full-grown birds watching over their offsprings collectively. They also attack other birds, especially daws and other carnivores. In this case, there seem to be two pairs of older birds and about 4-5 fledglings. Taken with the Sigma 150/2.8 Macro. This, actually, was one of the "oh yeah great you left THAT one at home"-moments again - in this case, the 300/2,8, 2xTC and a tripod would have come in VERY handy (like in "you could actually see the birds"). I'll have to pay another visit to that field - luckily it's not far away from home.

Phyllobius Urticae

This is a Phyllobius urticae (Brennnessel-Grünrüssler), as it seems. Should be a male, as the female is a bit longer and thinner. I think it's quite cute, eh?
