Portland harbour

Portland harbour
The two large blocks of concrete sitting next to each other on the right of the picture are "Mulberry harbours", which were constructed in large numbers and towed over to assist with offloading on the beaches during the D-Day landings in Normandy.

At the top left is Chesil Beach, which also has a wartime connection — the lagoon was used for testing of Barnes Wallace's "bouncing bomb".
