Speckled Wood Butterfly (+PiP)

Well captured Keith I don't think I have seen one as you say there have been very few butterflies this year perhaps the wet winter din't help

Apparently there has been a drastic drop in numbers and types of butterflies all over the UK this year. It's very sad :-(

I agree, very patchy with few butterfly days this year.

I can't argue with that Colin............it's the same all over the UK from what I hear.

A beautiful butterfly in superb detail and the colours appear to be perfect Keith, I know little about these creatures mainly because they never stay still when I try to photograph them but having done a search I am learning!

Thank you Roger.........I'm pleased you like the look of this lovely butterfly. It's sad, but they've been in decline all over the UK this year.

You should try using a long lens to capture them, without having to get too close. I was lucky with this one as I think it was trying to warm itself up and it was not too active.

My problem is that I seldom if ever these days have anything other my trusty 24-70,f4 jack of all trades lens on!

It sounds like you'll have to resort to a Ghillie suit to sneak up on them Roger :-)))

Perhaps I will leave it to the experts Keith ;-))
