Oh yes...........they've been going for many years Roger and still very popular with tourists and commuters alike. They sometimes struggle in really rough weather, but they're surprisingly good to travel in.

I did go across the channel and back by hovercraft twice in the 1970s
Like an aircraft cabin but the noise was almost unbearable on one crossing.
We did Hoverspeed Dover to Boulogne and then several years later Hoverlloyd Ramsgate to Calais.
Exciting times.

A few years back. together with some mates, I ws lucky enough to wangle a private look around the hovercraft museum at HMS Daedalus in Lee-on-Solent. One of my mates was a qualified cherry-picker driver and so we were able to borrow one to get some unusual shots.

The hoverport on the beach is very popular with locals, tourists and photographers!
