Cuckoo Flower - Cardamine Pratensis

Cuckoo Flower - Cardamine Pratensis
Also known as: Milkmaid or Lady's Smock. Beautiful but very small, only around 1-2 cm across. Like their avian namesake, they start to appear mainly in April and May.

Susanne Hoy, trester88, Aschi "Freestone", Annemarie and 9 other people have particularly liked this photo

I call them cuckoo flowers Keith. Their purple veins show beautifully in your picture and the vibrant green centres look beautiful. A very well framed and gorgeous spring shot.

A lovely detailed plant portrait! We picked them as kids and were disappointed when they wilted so quickly...

A steady hand Laura..........and and a narrow depth of field. You have to find a flower that has enough distance from the background to make it stand out.

Glad you like it and thank you.

Sieht aus wie Wiesen-Schaumkraut. Eine wunderschöne Aufnahme, Keith! Ich mag die feinen Adern in den Blütenblättern und das weiche Bokeh!

Fantastic! That's a great macro. I like it how the small blossoms are shining before the dark background.
