Cricket
I don't really follow (or understand) the game, but I watched a little bit of this match taking place in Priory Park, Chichester, and took a few photos. When I decided to post these images I looked on the internet for a simple explanation of the rules and found this:

"You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.

When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game..!!"

Simple............................

John FitzGerald, Diane Putnam, Berny, and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

I have a tea towel with this on it and for amusement, when students ask me about cricket (which is, to my dismay, almost unknown here in Spain!), I show it to them and all is clear (at least I think it is, they don't ask me any more questions after that!).
:o)
These two schoolboy batsmen are displaying fair technique in their shots!
You can tell that I miss cricket out here, Keith!
I like your collage!

Thanks Tess..........I don't normally watch it but I was there with a camera and it seemed a shame not to grab a few shots.

A great collage. I don't understand the game and it's not as popular in Scotland as in England. We have a village cricket club though and the neighbouring village has one too which played at Lords once and won the competition. We were not amused !

JEAN!!! That sounds like particularly sour grapes, if I may say so!
Not sure what brought that on, a dislike of cricket? A dislike of the English? Both?
I'm not usually touchy about these things but as it came from a totally unsuspected source, I can't help but express my surprise.
I think you should have been extremely proud of your local cricketers!

Holy moley, that's quite a game! I've only seen it briefly on TV, I think they were Carribean teams. It seems that Pakistan and India are the most fanatical about cricket. Anyway, this is a fantastic collage, as a whole it has a rhythm and flow like dance. The funniest description of cricket I've ever read was in a book about travel in Australia. The author reproduced the radio broadcaster's commentary and I laughed out loud. (Don't remember the title or the author.)

It's more than just a game here for a lot of folks................but I can't get my head round it - far too slow for me. It was interesting to get a few shots though - but only 'cos I was there, I wouldn't go out of my way for them. Thanks for stopping by.

I became acquainted with cricket after growing up with baseball. The games are the opposite of each other -- cricket emphasizes batting with the wide flat bats while baseball emphasizes fielding with those giant gloves and running -- but I enjoy them both. Twenty20 is a pretty fast variety of cricket.

I have to admit, though, that these days watching a whole game, even of baseball or Twenty20, is a bit much for me. There's so much to photograph elsewhere.

And those are great captures.

Thanks for taking the trouble to comment John...........I've never seen much baseball so I can't really comment on it, but to be honest I'm not much of a sports fan at all..!!

Glad you like the pics though.
