Dinnertime is a real showdown here with the male hummingbirds. He is definitely challenging another male for his territory as he flashes his bright colors.

I thought this was a Rufous hummingbird but after some research he looks more like an Allen's hummingbird

Terrific images Karen. What a beautiful bird. I have only ever seen pictures of hummingbirds and they were very different in colour so nice to see this different type here. I love the colours, like little jewels around his neck. Great videos too. Have a lovely evening and stay safe.

There are many different kinds. We mainly have the Anna's and the Rufous hummingbirds here but I just recently spotted this little chap and that was pretty exciting for a casual bird watcher like me. The colours are really vivid.
