Seeds? No seeds.

Pretty exactly a year ago, we received in the mail a big bulb of ornamental allium which we had not ordered. I put it in the ground and promptly forgot about it. But it came up in the spring and eventually produced a big glorious flower which the bees and the other flower-attendees loved, so I thought it might make a chance for me to get allium seed. In the early fall, I dutifully saved the entire flower in a paperbag waiting for it to dry out when I would separate the seeds.

This morning I made my attendance to the flower's dry seed cases. Every one was empty: a little crispy case with nothing inside.

I think the plant was barren, infertile, a sport, probably for commercial reasons.
