The shes are more interesting than the hes

Although the male Evening grosbeaks are brilliant in their high-contrast colour, their female friends are far more interesting, being more nuanced in their tones and colours. At our feeder this morning there were about three females for every male. Of course, some of those "females" may be young males. I can't tell that difference.
