Morning visitors, evening grosbeaks

This morning, we had a sudden and short visit by three dozen evening

grosbeaks. They are the first ones I've seen this season. They were

cleaning up the mess left by a bunch of bluejays earlier this morning --

the jays had emptied the seed feeder onto the ground and the deck. The

grosbeaks were glad to find the mess.



And then ten or fifteen minutes later, they were gone,



Here a male and a female sat together for a moment, long enough for me

to get their picture.
