Political microcosm

Political microcosm
Starlings are very pretty. But, when they come to the feeder, few
other birds get a chance. Like the snowbirds here, others give way to
the big appetite and pushy way of the starling. These birds are
hanging out happily for the moment; there's only one starling this
morning and he doesn't take up all the room.

Starlings are an invasive species from Europe, introduced only a
century and a half ago, and are now everywhere on the continent. A
human European introduced them to this side of the Atlantic.

Here endeth the lesson.
