The blue dye of the flowers ate away at the cotton material and left pin mark holes - particularly where the light hit the dress strongest. For more information, go to extantgowns dot blogspot dot com and search for 1826. This dress should come up.

It's upside down, but you can see the inside of the waist area on the dress. Here, the blue flower print is still very new looking due to the lack of light hitting the print.
