We were most of the way out Gunflint Trail when we found ourselves amongst what were obviously fire fighting teams. A bit of research when we got home shows that they were still fighting the remnants of July's Cavity Lake Fire in early August. While we weren't really close to the fire site, neither were we far from it.

The Grand, south of Portland, north of Mulliken. This was long the location of a pretty bridge , but it's been replaced with one that's far more substantial. The old bridge has been restored (and painted!) and now lives in a Battle Creek park.

Another photo from the Saint Ignace's Antiques by the Bay car show. Neat old truck. For the first few weeks I lived in Lansing, my route to work took me past the recently-abandoned Diamond REO factory on South Washington Avenue. It's now long gone. The neighbors were pleased to be rid of it, but some thought parts of the complex might have been saved.

I interrupt my social-apps vacation to post a photo I took the day I bought my Mustang, which is a few days short of seven years old. I plan to replace the ponycar this week. It's been a good companion; I'll miss it.
