Tall Grass
Grasses & Sky
Trees, Grasses, Sky

Joan took this last weekend during our hike at Audubon's Baker Sanctuary. Came out real nicely, I think.
Cathead Beach
|
|
Explored! #26 [October 16, 2007] Thanks!
Another dramatic photo of Cathead Bay , at Leelanau State Park near the end of Michigan's little finger. Obviously there are other routes to the bay, but we took the park's trail. The view was incredible.
Unretouched except that I resized it. It's surprisingly better (in some senses, anyway) in the larger size .
Added to Cream of the Crop as my best photo for 2005.
Beach Grasses
Sleeping Bear Bay
|
|
Explored! #86 on Monday, July 23, 2007. Thanks!
Perhaps the prettiest place I know: Sleeping Bear Bay, on Lake Michigan, from Glen Haven, Michigan. The big dune is Sleeping Bear; the island is South Manitou.
Overgrown

A tractor and some other equipment, hiding in the tall grass; St. Joe Highway @ Cochran, Eaton County, Michigan. Better Large, methinks.
Tall Grass by the Barn
Tall Grass @ Baker Sanctuary
|
|
It's been a while since I've posted a photograph from Michigan Audubon's Baker Sanctuary (near Bellevue; north of Battle Creek). Better LARGE.
Took this along the Doty Trail a couple weeks ago with my SR-T 101. Came out nicely, I think.
Pond

More of the tall grass--Boston Fan in Michigan tells me it's Spartina --along the Doty Wildflower Trail at Michigan Audubon's Baker Sanctuary, just south of Bellevue, just north of Turkeyville. Shot from the boardwalk which runs along the edge of the pretty little pond.

Crane 4269
|
|
More/different details of the crane at the former LTV facility known as Cliffs-Erie; near Hoytville, Minnesota. Photograph taken on a Missabe Railroad Historical Society excursion
Beginning to get a feel for Aperture . There are definitely things to like about it.
Ben's Garden
Grasses in Sunlight
Hey, it's Joan!
Stump Field
|
|
Nearly a century ago they took the trees and left the stumps. Nearly all of them show fire damage, but that's just nature taking its course....
Hartwick Pines State Park, near Grayling, Michigan.
South from Empire

Dunes on the left; Lake Michigan on the right, with a skinny beach between. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
Bridge, Ditch, Tree
|
|
I've shown you this bridge before . In that picture it seems an old, weathered, wooden footbridge. From this angle it's revealed as a steel (or perhaps aluminum) structure with a wooden superstructure. Still attractive, but not exactly what it seems. But likely durability's an issue.
Maple River State Game Area, north of St. Johns, Michigan.
