Barns and other outbuildings

Another picture I took last Sunday. This structure is on the Bennett place, behind the house.

The first day of spring had this marvelous ending. Photo taken on Saginaw Highway between Mulliken and Sunfield.

This old barn's managed to outlive the house which used to share this yard.

One more view of the former McCargar place. They, or their successors, built a house beside and up the hill from the barn (out of this photograph; see here for clues ); these trees marked the limits of the home's yard. When I moved to the area the house was still standing, but abandoned and in very poor repair; it was taken down around the same time the barn was buttressed.

Even less there than it first appears....

Joan and I define "long ride" differently. This barn is at the far corner of a fourteen-mile loop from our house; she considers it a long ride, while I consider it a short one. So it's pretty common for me to follow a joint ride with a second, more stressful, jaunt. This is a potential problem, but we'll work something out. That pretty jersey's something I picked up on eBay; the design's from the eighties and the tag inside says its size is XL. Tag's wrong; the jersey fits Joan a lot better than it fits me. Looks good on her, so I'm satisfied, but I'd really prefer that it fit me. Oh, well. Apologies for the sloppy work in PhotoShop Elements; I'm still experimenting and may repost.....

This is the photo I was attempting to take when I accidentally captured my bike's wheel . Not much alike, really....

A couple miles south of home. Probably my favorite local farmyard. Photo taken from my bike.

A house or two, too. Along Mt. Hope Road in Eaton County, Michigan.

I've shown you this barn before , but there it was being its usual photogenic self this morning when I rode by. So you're getting another picture or two. Besides, the way the cows watch the passing parade through those doors is just impossible to resist. So I grabbed the camera and shot a few--literally from the bike's saddle. Wonder if I've got any pictures stashed away from before the buttresses were added. I'll have to look....

Same location as the previous photo; this building also survives, even though the house which overlooked the pasture's been demolished. This is really just a cinder-block shed, but someone made an effort to make it look good.

Not sure exactly where I shot this, but I like the little hollow, the wandering country road, and the barn.
