A captionless photo from the Borucki collection. But since this ship only carried this name for a few months, we know the photo dates from 1947 or 1948. The location is, of course, unknown.
Tanker Sarnolite was built for Imperial Oil at Collingwood in 1916 and spent her career in varied service, mostly as an ocean-going vessel which occasionally appeared on the Great Lakes. (I presume she used the New York Ship Canal as a connecting waterway; she was the right size for that venue.) Reportedly she was a famously dirty ship, apparently because of the specific cargoes she carried.
Renamed Imperial Sarnia in 1947; renamed Imperial Hamilton the next year after the second Imperial Sarnia was launched. Reduced to a barge in 1962 after a fire; retired and scrapped in 1970 or 1971.
