Imposing structure at Paestum
This house, in situ, is imposing, which is what drew it to my attention. The 35mm standard was the widest lens I had with me and the building seems to be bursting out of the frame. Accidentally, this reflects the impression I wanted to create!
Paestum is in the Amalfi Coast region of Italy, just south of the Bay of Naples and surprisingly hard to reach from there.

Warrior statue
For me, this scene suggested a warrior departing a battlefield. He turns his back on the ruins of the conflict leaving a field red with blood like poppies.*
(*This reversal of the common phrase I have 'borrowed' from the poet Ann Lewin.)

Modern Centaur statue at Pompeii
This modern sculpture is found in the Forum of the excavated ancient city of Pompeii in Italy. It was created by Polish sculptor Igor Mitoraj (1944-2014).
