Sandstorm On Farraid Head

After the rain, the wind kept rising to gail force and beyond but the sun was out which created a sand storm to rival the best of deserts.
When we set out in the morning this was a tarmac road, by the time we return in late afternoon the tarmac was under two feet+ of sand. The disorientation was amazing. Tibby had to hold our hands and walk backwards. Being that much shorter, she and Monty bore the full brunt of the sand blasting. Cold teabags at the ready when we got back.

A dramatic place. This has been a religious site for about 1200 years and in Gaelic Balnakeil means “bay of the church”.
There is a tomb within the walls of the church which has the inscription ""Donald Makmurchou here lies low Was ill to his friend, and worse to to his foe True to his master in prosperity and woe. DMMC 1623".
